Dr. Shari Giti, Psy.D.
ABout DR. GIti, CLinical Director
Dr. Shari Giti is the Clinical Director of South Bay Child and Therapy, Inc. She specializes in child, teen, young adult, perinatal and family therapy as well as psychological, educational and AD/HD Assessment. Concurrently, Dr. Giti is a graduate of the prestigious Reiss-Davis Child Study Center PEDS post-doctoral fellowship where she conducted educational, neuropsychological, and psychological testing and assessment and achieved an expertise in educational, psychological, and neuropsychological testing. In addition to her work with patients in the office, Dr. Giti serves as an advocate for her patients in the school setting and often participates in the IEP process and school accommodation representation.
Dr. Giti has experience with a broad spectrum of clients including individuals (children, adolescents, adults) and families. She has worked with a range of clients including children, adolescents, young adults, families, and couples and facilitated groups for parents of children of ADHD and Asperger's. In addition to her work with individuals and families, Dr. Giti has expertise in working with mothers and families of infants, toddlers and young children and is actively involved with several "mommy" groups throughout the South Bay. Past experiences include Care Manager for patients with dual diagnosis (e.g. poly-substance dependence) for Aspiranet Family Services, staff therapist at Kaiser Permanente Department of Psychiatry, South Bay, therapist at Long Beach Family Services, and school counselor in an elementary school in the Greater Los Angeles area.
As a former professional opera singer, Dr. Giti also has an expertise in the treatment of performance anxiety (stage fright, public speaking anxiety, test-taking anxiety, sports performance anxiety, writers block) and works closely with various performers and "performer concerns."
Shari is a long-time South Bay resident and a mother to three little girls, Teddy the golden-doodle and Lucy the Labradoodle (the practice's very own therapy dog).
